Dermal fillers volumise, smoothen and redefine your face, making you look and feel your best. Conway House Dental Practice uses a variety of FDA- approved, hyaluronic acid fillers to provide you with the result you desire.
As we age, the structural components of our face start to change in an unfavourable way: the skin loses elasticity, the soft tissues, and bone breakdown, which leads to an aged appearance. The level of hyaluronic acid in our skin, the skin’s natural moisturiser, decreases too. The cheeks look flatter, the eyes hollower, and the lower face looks heavier with an accentuation of nose-to-mouth lines and mouth-to-chin lines. The skin appears less hydrated and plump, leading to initially fine and eventually deeper lines and wrinkles. The lips may lose volume and definition, and the corners may drop. Other contributing causes are significant weight loss, excessive sun exposure, and smoking.
Dermal filler treatments with hyaluronic acid injections are used to replace the lost volume, improve skin quality, and make the face look more refreshed and more akin to its former self. The results are immediate, but get better over the following few weeks. The body breaks down the hyaluronic acid with time, and follow-up treatments help to maintain the result.
At Conway House Dental Practice, we feel that the best results are achieved when treatment is bespoke and subtle. Our Dentist and Aesthetic Practitioner, Dr. Nina Kelman, will carry out a thorough consultation to determine what concerns you have, and together a suitable treatment plan is decided. We will put your safety and comfort first and enhance your natural beauty with artistic and subtle techniques.
Lips can be treated to improve definition, shape, and proportion, as well as prevent lipstick-bleeding and sad-looking lips with downturned corners. We do not like lips to look unnatural or over-enlarged. Dermal filler lips are, therefore, very beneficial in augmenting the beauty of your lips.
Cheek Enhancement can make you look less tired and provide a more youthful shape to your face. It helps to improve the appearance of nose-to-mouth lines and mouth-to-chin lines, which can also be treated directly.
Chin/jawline augmentation can improve facial proportions and profile appearance. Chin and jawline filler can improve jawline definition, disguise jowls, and double chins. Chins can be made to look more feminine (heart-shaped faces) or more masculine.
Tear troughs are the grooves sometimes visible between the eye and cheek, which can become more obvious as part of the ageing process or are hereditary. They can be made less conspicuous with dermal filler, which smoothens the transition between eyelid to the cheek.
A numbing cream is applied to the skin and the treatment techniques chosen help minimise discomfort. The fillers themselves also have numbing properties i.e. contains local anaesthetic. For lip fillers, we tend to give dental blocks to help with keeping things comfortable.
30-90 minutes depending on how many areas are treated.
Depending on the area treated and the individual, the results lasts between 6-12 months, after which follow-up treatment can be provided.
Dermal fillers are extremely safe, however, after treatment it is possible to have some short-lived swelling, redness, itching and mild tenderness. It is also possible to have some bruising. Other more serious complications are rare and can be reversed by the filler reversal agent.
Once any numbness from the cream and filler has worn off, we advise applying ice to the area. We also advise that you return for a review 2-3 weeks after treatment. More specific post treatment instructions will be provided at your consultation and on your treatment day.
