Facial Aesthetics » Botox

If you want to reduce the lines on your face without having to resort to surgical procedures, the good news is that facial rejuvenation techniques can soften wrinkles for a more youthful appearance.

Our practice uses the botulinum toxin type A for this treatment, an injectable aesthetic solution.

Once injected into the skin, the botulinum toxin relaxes the tiny facial muscles, which cause expression lines, by blocking the nerve impulses in them, leaving the skin looking smoother.

Areas on the face that can be treated include frown lines (vertical lines which form between the eyebrows), eyebrows, crows' feet, forehead lines and lines around the mouth and top lip, known as 'smoker's lines'.

The botulinum injection is quick and painless; usually lasting around 5-10 minutes and requires no antiseptic. Results will usually be seen in a few days, sometimes taking between 4-7 days for the effects to be seen.

As it's not a permanent treatment, the effects will wear off over time, so it's recommended that the procedure is repeated every 3 months for effective results.

At the practice we are very fortunate to have Dr Ban Ratti who undertakes all our facial rejuvenation treatment. She is an aesthetic Physician and a well established General Practitioner.

She runs clinics in Surbiton, Esher, Guildford, Windsor and around South West London and various other London sites, and is experienced in facial aesthetic procedures including Botulinum toxin (Botox), Dermal Filler procedures and Skin peels.

She is fully qualified and experienced in the administration of Botox for the reduction of facial wrinkles of the upper face. She has done Masterclass Training in Juvéderm for the reduction of facial lines and increasing the fullness of the lips and is qualified in all forms of Dermal fillers.

Can I have Botox ?
Botox is contraindicated in Pregnancy, Breast feeding and if you have a neuromuscular disease such as Myasthenia Gravis.

Treatment Information
We advise you to stop aspirin two days prior to treatment to reduce any bruising. Botox treatment involves a series of injections which may cause you slight discomfort.

What should I expect post Botox treatment?
Botox is a safe, effective treatment. Complications are minor and temporary. Sometimes clients get a mild headache, slight bruising and swelling, this will resolve after a few days. Rarely the toxin may reach the upper eyelid muscle, this may cause temporary drooping. This occurs rarely and may be reduced by special drops.

Post treatment advice?
We advise you to frown as much as possible 4-6 hours post treatment. We also advise you to avoid alcohol, keep upright and do not do any exercise post treatment.
